In 1956 Sergio Rodrigues founded ‘Oca Industries’ in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro. A brand that for two decades was the hallmark of modern furniture in Brazil.
His love of traditional materials such as leather, eucalyptus and the wood of the Jacaranda tree helped him create some stunning pieces including the ‘Mole Chair’ which was awarded first place at the ‘IVth Concorso Internazionale del Mobile’ in 1961 and also led to The Museum of Modern Art in New York adding the chair to its permanent collection.
