Art meets furniture design in the form of Cappellini Homage to Mondrian Cabinets.

The talent of two great individuals of the last century fuses together to create a modern design, both abstract and concrete at the same time.

Cappellini revisits the magical work of Shiro Kuramata in a new cabinet series inspired by the Dutch abstract painter, Piet Mondrian. Available in two versions, the cabinets are created from lacquered wood and mounted on wheels; inside, they hold spaces and drawers for gathering and safekeeping dreams and memories.

Yomei’s aptly named ‘Magic Cube’ cabinet can be converted from the inside into your choice of a make-up/dressing table, a coffee/bar cabinet or a computer/office centre.

My personal favourite is the glamorous make-up table shown above with its light-up rear view mirror, numerous drawers, cosmetic mirror with 5x magnification and integrated power outlet for hair dryer or electric shaver, it provides a true haven of personal care for men and women alike.

The first products launched within the new Established & Sons ‘Collaborations’ programme are the ‘Night Table’ and ‘Chest of Drawers’ by British artist Richard Woods and designer Sebastian Wrong.

The design of the pieces derives from the style of mid century post war modernist utility furniture that championed the abilities of plywood as a new building material. The emphasis is form, function, construction and material with the absence of decoration.

The Yves desk is a modern interpretation of a traditional writing desk. Its straight lines are softened with curvacous details on the legs, top and side panels. The elegant walnut finish is contrasted with the hot olive green inlaid leather writing surface and matching laquered central drawer.
